WEEK 2 LEARNING SUMMARY

In this week, the focus was on wiki's and blogs. The difference between a wiki and a blog is that the wiki is a fluid document that can be edited by any of the participants who are authorized access to it. There are many pros and cons to using a wiki instead of a blog. The wiki can be tailored for group activities and projects as opposed to the blog where log entries are typically posted in a linear motion such as chronological. Also in the discussion was advoiding pitfalls of using wikis such as security encroachments by outside internet users and derogertory behavior from within the authorized users.

WEEK 1 LEARNING SUMMARY

Week one a SWOT analysis was the focus of discussion one. A SWOT outlines the strenghts, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to a given situation or experience. This analysis is a pre-course to actually determine whether or not the one should pursue the task at question, or it can be used as a planning tool to ouline the outcomes and what can be expected. Based on the 2009 Horizons Report, the SWOT analysis was done on mobile technology, along with geo-everything, personal web, semantic software and smart objects.
